I have a Honda Civic and a Toyota Tacoma, just put new clutches in both but the grad at top just like old clutches did. Is there a way to adjust them?

  1. ON the contrary double R...

You still need free play.. at the top or its still riding on the throwout barren.. A hydraulic clutch was designed to make it easier to push and  hold the clutch against the perisher plate springs. ( a very strong spring).. anyway to adjust the hydraulic clutch down at the clutch there is a little slave cylinder kind of like a brake cylinder. in the end that pushes against the clutch mechanism is a small rod that should have some adjustment in it... It doesn't take much but to bring the pedal down from the top you want to shorten the rod just a little.

    Good luck

  2. There is no adjustment to be made on hydraulic clutches. That is the beauty of them.

I wouldn't be too concerned that the clutch on your vehicles engage at the top. You don't have to be concerned with freeplay as you would on a mechanical linkage. The idea of freeplay adjustment was to keep the release bearing away from the pressure plate. A hydraulic system does this on it's own. Much like a hydraulic brake caliper keeps the pads away from the brake rotor when not in use
