Ok so I know its a little early but my husband and I have been talking about names for our little peanut and we just dont agree. We dont know if its a girl or boy but ALL we talk about it boy names (so it probably will be a boy) Anyways....ever since I found out I was pregnant I have been in love with the name Jacob. I dont know why...I just do. Well he said he likes it but wouldn't want to name his kid that....he now really really likes Jackson. I really dislike that name. Sorry (of course no offense to anybody with that name) but all I can think about when I hear it is Micheal jackson and he creeps me out! We have one son together and his name is Matthew. Anyways...how do we agree on a name????

  1. I would go to nymbler.com and add the names you like and it will generate a list for you of similar names and maybe you can agree on something.

    other ideas

    Jacob Jaxon

Jaxon (you could call him Jax)

    Jonathan Jackson

  2. I dislike Jackson for the same reason you mentioned.  Jacob is a cute name.  How did you decide on Matt for the first son?

  3. either come up with more til you agree...or let him name this one and you wait for a girl.

  4. Girl it's his last name, you should get to pick the first name! lol.. but seriously. I think you should have more input on the name than he does. But think about how insignificant it is too... "Jack" really isn't much different from "Jake". It's what it is that counts, not what it's called. =)

  5. Jackson Jacob or Jacob Jackson :-)

  6. Start over completely.  Or try spelling the names differently to change it.  My cousin's name is Jaxon.  It doesn't even seem the same to me.  For Jacob just go for Jake.

  7. Maybe scratch both of those names and start fresh. Both of you make a list of what you think is good names and that you like, switch lists and compare..it's what me and my husband had to do.

I love the name Bryson, my husband hates it. I love Lucas and my husband hates it. I always pair the 2 together Bryson Lucas.

  8. Personally I don't like Jackson..only because it's my ex-boyfriend's name...lol. I love Jacob too!

    Try to compromise...

    Jacob Jaxon (a different spelling)

    Jaxon Jake

    Jake Jaxon

Or you make a list of 10 names and your husband makes a list of 10 names. Then you switch lists and scratch off two names both of you dislike. Continue until you end up with 2 names on each list. From there you both can discuss the last four names.

    Good luck!

    Congrats!!

  9. Make a list (both of you) and maybe even rate your name choices on a scale of 1 - 10, then compare. Keep the ones you both have on your list and see if you can narrow them down to something you both like equally.

And do girl names too, just in case. ;)

For inspiration, http://www.nymbler.com is BRILLIANT. Honestly, I love that site. Enter some names you like as inspiration (like Matthew, Jacob and Jackson) and then it will generate lists of names that you might like too.

  10. That's a tough one. It's your baby's name. It's really hard to settle on something you don't like. For my son, my husband and I couldn't agree on a name for almost the entire pregnancy. We have different native languages and what sounds good to me sounds ridiculous to him. He preferred common, easy to say names as well, while I preferred names that were less common. We had agreed on a name finally around the fifth month when we found out we were having a boy. By the eighth month, we decided it was way to popular a name. It seemed like everyone was naming their sons that. We wound up not giving him his final name until literally the week before he was born lol! I wasn't that keen on the name to start with either but I was "ok" with it and frankly tired of looking, so I compromised. In the end, I got used to saying it and it has grown on me quite a bit. Now I'm proud to have named him that.

Why don't you try some names on for size? Try referring to your little bean as various names and see what feels better? It might help you compromise.

  11. It's tricky. This happens a lot. Unfortunately you both have to give up the names you love and try again to find one you both like - this sucks when you've wanted a name your whole life though!
