i had to make a poem about my life: ( can you also tell me if my poem is missing anything or has a problem)

My Childhood is a wonderful thing

Something I can’t have again

From my first breathe to my first steps

To my first trip on a train

I loved to play with my imaginary friends

A sword I would uphold

Pretending to be a pirate

Fearless and bold

On TV would be my favourite shows

Sesame Street and Playschool

I would laugh and scream like a maniac

And then fall asleep off my stool.

I will cherish these great memories

Like a woodcutter and he’s wood

Forever I will remember

My wonderful childhood

(retarded i know)

the second step is to analyze it

how do i do that?

whats analyzing?

  1. You have to write about the vision that you were trying to convey into the minds of those people reading it. and you have to write about the techniques that you did and how they helped you through writing this poem.

  2. To analyze a poem is to try to understand the meaning of what the author was trying to pen. Often, that is a tough task as a lot of vagaries  abound and multiple meanings.  You also analyze for poetic style and structure, e.g. free verse, sonnet.  Your have worded a poem about great feelings of your childhood.  To make this stand out you need to rethink how to word the lines to draw the reader.

A wondrous time, this time ago

    fleeting now, with no return

    but memories so wonderful

Keep writing and never be afraid of editing.  That is where the shine starts to glisten.

  3. lol im no expert..but i think analysing is where to take out the meaning of certain lines from the peom ...yh i think

  4. Yay - I love analysing poetry!

Pretty good poem. I would change the word 'great' in the first line of the last verse to something a bit more profound and pretty.

Analysing a poem for school means you should find poem techniques and state their effect, including the issues it brings up. For example in your poem...

    A poem technique is rhyming.

The effect for me is that the rhyming reminds me of a child/childlike poem (no offense - it works out). The poem itself and its rhyming reflects the simplicity and innocence of childhood.

There you go - I stated the technique, effect and issue.  You can fix up the wording though.

Now repeat for five more techniques. Good luck and it's just practice.

  5. I'm not a master in literature too and I don't know about analyzing.

but I think the touchstone is your own feeling and taste.

in my opinion, your poem is beautiful.

  6. okay not sure how old you are but that wasn't too bad..... the part you are trying to analyze your wonderful childhood right ???  I could be wrong but that's how you started out with this poem analyzing your wonderful childhood so you want to end with that. there has to be a better line then  the woodcutter thing....you chose that for rhyming affect ???  If you can go with something that doesn't have to rhyme I have a few suggestions.......
