How do you annotate a book?

I have no idea how to do it

Please explain how to do it briefly

1) Take a quote (put the page number after or next to it)

2)explain what the quote is (ex: personification, plot, setting, character dev., ect.)

3)elaborate on number 2 in a "why" catogory

easy as that!

Highlight significant things in the book.  Highlight any words you are unfamiliar with.  Write questions in the margins.  Let me tell you... you will learn to HATE annotating!
