i need to annotate a location map for a piece of geography work and need help with the sort of content i need to add

  1. It would be helpful if you knew more about the purpose or aim of annotating the map. In general though, label symbols and write down what they represent.

    EDIT: Thanks for editing, it gave me more details.

    A river is split into three sections; upper course, middle course and lower course.

    The upper course will not be narrow compared to the lower and middle course. It will have surrounding steep land, on maps the contours line will be closer together to show this. Other features to look for are waterfalls and tributaries (very small miny rivers running into the main one).

    The middle course will have some meanders (bends in the river), they is an inner bend (river beach) of a meander where depostion takes place so the contour line will be more spread out and outer bends (river cliff) where erosion takes place and this causes that side to be steeper so the contour lines will be closer. The river will be wider and the sides will not be as steep.

    The lower course will be very wide, look for oxbow lakes and contour lines will be quite far apart showing the side of the river to be flat (floodplains). There will also be lots of large meander present.
