At the age of 30, I have just found out that my biological father is a Frenchman, living in Paris. Can I apply for nationality and a passport? How do I go about this?

  1. While you may have a court ordered DNA test you actually need to talk to your biological father about this. This is because you will need his paperwork (birth certificate, passport, citizenship papers if any to apply for French citizenship via descent).

  2. castration is somewhere in the process.

  3. Call in at the French Embassy and have a word.

  4. According to this website, if you have a parent who is French then you should be able to apply for French citizenship:

There's no delicate way of putting this so I'll be blunt, is he actually named on your birth certificate?  If he isn't you may have to go through some formal process to prove he is your father & that you are entitled to citizenship.

You should also contact your nearest French Embassy to get information on how to apply for citizenship and a passport.

  5. You have to send a post card to the french dept. of state. and wait for a response.

  6. Prove to Mr Sarkozy that you have a penchant for eating snails and frogs' legs.
