My friend lives in Germany (and is German) and she needs to apply for her baby's passport before we can all go on holiday together. I don't know how the process works over there and I am finding it hard to research on the internet though I do understand German. I need to be able to tell her how long it takes and what she need to do or I am going to be stressing out totally between now and June.

The link below provides you will all information about getting the baby's passport and the costs.

Being a German she should not have a problem at all to go to the "Stadtverwaltung" or "Buergerbuero" applying for the baby's passport and get answers on all her questions.

The post office in Germany has nothing to do with applying for a passport!

Btw: It should be possible to add the baby into the mother's passport (cheaper)!

Take care and have a nice vacation
