i want to get my lience to run a pub. how do i go about applying 4 1. i have experience in running a busy pub and club

  1. you need to take a personal license holder course (local colleges often do them). you then apply for a criminal record check and complete the application form from your local authority. This gives you a personal license. Once you hold this you can be made the designated premises supervisor for a pub by applying for it to the local authority with the manager/owner consent. This makes you what was known as the licencee under the old system.

    The pub needs a premises licence in order to operate legally this can be applied for by the owners to the local authority licensing section. The legislation you need to know about is the 2003 licencing act, you can get info on  this through the internet. When applying for any of these you also need to send a copy of the documents to the police for the area.

    A private members club is slightly different but your local authority will help.

  3. Try    www.biiab.org  they run courses  for the licence. That's how I got mine. The exam is not too difficult, especially as you will know quite a lot already.
