How do you apply for unemployment?

I haven't ever had to do this in 21 yrs. and I just found out friday my boss is letting me go because business has slowed down so much.

  1. Visit your local state employment office.


  2. That's pretty bad loosing your job especially now that winter and Christmas is coming.

    Just relax, get all your ID together and a work separation certificate from your employer and go to your nearest Social Security office and register.

    Remember don't burn your bridges and don't forget to ask your ex boss for a reference of service. Give yourself a week off before you start job hunting, loosing a job is as bad as loosing a friend or family member.

    Remember it will be a year before you get another break, so give yourself a short break to get your CV together.  Never go for a job for money, find something you want to do. With 21 years under your belt you would be a very valuable staff member to any new employer.

    I live in Australia it's the opposite here than back home in the states there are a lot of jobs here only their are not enough workers to fill the positions and the wages are three times more than back in the states. I heard it's getting pretty bad over there. Well keep your head up and good luck !
