I know this sounds like a stupid question but how do you apply mascara correctly? Im a newbie to makeup and I just bought a bottle of Great Lash Mascara (by Maybelline; the one in the pink and green bottle). When I put it on yesterday, I thought my lashes looked a little awkward....so are there any tips you can give me on how to put it on....

Thanks.

  1. lol i actually had the same kind before...then i gave it to my sister. It does work well, but doesnt really bring out your lashes. It darkens them which helps me bring out my brown eyes, which is why i like it. But if you want longer lashes, it probably wont do that for you...this one is more for bringing out your eyes, not lashes. The way you put it on in pretty simple. When you take out the brush, wipe the excess on the tip of it onto the bottle, or it will come out a glob on your eye. then hold the brush underneath your lashes all the way next to your eyelid and hold it there for like two seconds. Then swipe it up. Do this for both eyes, and if theres a spot on one eye that didnt get enough, just do that part over. Hope this helps!! Good Luck <3 =)

  2. greatlash mascara is a great product. i use and i love it. here are the steps for applying mascara correctly.

Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler, if desired, and apply all other eye makeup prior to your mascara.

Remove the wand from the tube in one pull. Pumping the mascara will push air into the tube, potentially drying out the formula and introducing bacteria into it.

Begin with the underside of your upper lashes, moving the brush slowly upward toward the tips of your lashes. Always hold the wand parallel to your eyelid. Roll the brush slowly on the upward stroke to promote separation of the lashes.

Allow the first coat of mascara to dry before applying the second coat in the same manner.

Use an eyelash comb to separate the wet lashes. Also blot the lashes with tissue paper if necessary to remove excess mascara.

Use less mascara for the lower lashes. Begin where the lashes meet the rim of the lower eyelid, and gently stroke downward.

Remove any stray mascara around the eye with a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of eye makeup remover.

  3. close your eye half-way and move the brush along your lashes towards the outer corner of your eye, depending on how you want it do this 1 or 2 times, but not more then 2.

maybelline great lash is a really good mascara. i use it too & i reccomend it.

  4. Greatlash mascara is the best! It's the number one mascara in America! Also, for best results, you might wanna invest in an eyelash curler. Now here's the best way to apply mascara:

Start close to your lash line, curl your eyelashes. Then curl them again in the middle and near the top (it will give you lashes more length). Then starting as close to your lash line as possible without poking your eye bring the wand straight up (try not to brush your lashes towards the side - you want them to go straight up). Also make sure to get your inner most lashes.

    Good luck!

  5. i have the one in the pink and green bottle and i just put it on from the base of my lashs to the tip and then afterwords use the little eyelash comb thingy to get all the clumps out

  6. Yes I like Maybelline's Great lash mascara, i use it myself. Start as close to your eyelid and brush up and out, move the brush around to get all of your lashes. I've read in magazines that you should start close to your lid wiggle the brush and then gently slide it up and out. For more curl i recommend an eyelash curler, and a brush to get out the clumps. Hope it helped a little =)

  7. the mascara u r using is a good choice, it has been around forever but is good quality. just begin and the base of the lashes and move the brush to the ends until u have done all ur lashes then use a eyelash brush to seperate ur lashes and get rid of any clumps
