I know the model, the manufacture date and the manufacturer. How can I find an estimate on the value of an airplane?

Can I find it on the internet?

If so, where?

  1. Appraisals are usually based on an understanding of the current aviation market place and a select few resource guides.  I linked a website below of a company that does appraisals on the west coast.

  2. if you are an AOPA member you can go to the aircraft valuation feature on there. Otherwise the best thing to do is go onto www.controller.com and look at other aircraft that are comparable. You have to compare such things as age, serial number for that model, hours on the airframe, engine hours, equipment installed and the quality and recency of the paint and interior all come into play with the value of the aircraft.

  3. Not easy to do.

Best thing is to check out http://barnstormers.com, http://www.tradeaplane.com and others. If it's a 'special interest' aircraft (antique, classic, warbird, etc.) there's almost certainly an internet group around that you could probably find with a little googling.

  4. become a member of AOPA and use the Vref service on their website.

Vref is the kelly blue book of the online aircraft community.

  5. http://www.vrefpub.com/
