How do you go about getting a license with an animator for a comic/manga series you have designed? Do they approach you first? How would you approach them?

  1. They are not going to come looking for you. You need to contact distribution companies, and producers to sell your idea.

But the idea needs to have a substantial base or stories, about 10 to 20 so that your idea of the concept can be detailed and explained. You can't just say

"hey I have and idea, about a boy who's parent's have died and left him a mysterious magic key which he searches the entire world to find out what it opens by following a series of clues...."

If you can't generate storyline after storyline and character after character, and dialog after dialog, you will not be able to sell it effectively.

You can try to contact a write from one of your favorite series and see what that person might have done to get started.
