we are having a b-day party at the carousel and only have a 3 hr block of time. we have some family members that are ALWAYS hours late to events. I'm making it clear on my invites that the party is from 11:30-2pm. I was also planning on mentioning it verbally when they RSVP but since I'm putting an insert with a map and directions I thought I should mention it there with a little blurb like "We hope you can make it on time so that you can ride the carousel as many times as you would like!" Is that appropriate? Can anyone suggest something better? I just really want to get the info across that we aren't going to be there all day long like we have in the past at other parties. THANKS!!

  1. I think what you wrote on the card is information enough already! Very nice and nobody could ever get offended by it, but should be on time, come on! This is not nice when you arrive so late, just because they are family is not a good enough reason, specially if it is for children, that's another reason to arrive on time so the kids will play!

Well done! I hope they will arrive on time! Enjoy your party!

  2. The best way is to say it clearly and directly.  The party starts at 11:30 and ends promptly at 2pm.  We suggest arriving on time so that you can enjoy the entire 2 1/2 hours with us.  Then, if they are late, they will know the party ends promptly at 2pm.

  3. Chronic lateness is very rude, especially if they are thinking you ought to hold up your party until they arrive. Go ahead with your party as planned, regardless of whether they are there or not. When speaking to them, just remind them that it starts at 11:30, and everything will be done at 2, no later. If they get there late and are in a huff because you started without them, remind them that their invitation said 11:30, that's what time the party started. Maybe next time they will arrive on time!

    Best Regards,
