Question:

How do you attach a drill bit to cordless drill

I know this is a really silly question but my brother gave me a drill and I don't no how to attach a bit. It is a cordless black & decker needs now key. Can someone please help??

  1. If it doesn't need a key then just hand turn the big round grip where the key usely gos(counter clockwise to loosen) if it needs a key then the answer is obvious.You may have to hold the motor shaft if grip is stuck


  2. Hold the drill in your right hand like a gun.  Pull the trigger and observe which direction it turns.  If it turns clockwise, that is the forward position.  Find the reverse switch and move it to reverse.

    Now, still holding the drill in your right hand, gently grasp the fat part near the tip (the chuck) with your left hand and pull the trigger for a few seconds.  This will open up the chuck so you can insert a bit.

    Now turn the reverse switch to forward and hold the chuck while you pull the trigger.  This will close the chuck tightly onto the bit.

    Note:  You may need to "fiddle" with it a little so that the bit is perfectly centered in the three parts of the  chuck.
