I am a sophomore at USC in L.A. and am in huge need of financial aid. I've been trying to apply to jobs on campus but many say they require me to have "college work study"...

How do I go about attaining this?

  1. Usually, you can go to the Financial Aid office at the university and ask them for the paperwork.  I remember that there were options based on your major, or the dreaded "undecided" which usually meant that you were picking up garbage or some other crappy job.  You really want something that will help you in your career; for example, if you are going into Information Technology, you really want to try to get a computer lab-type work study job.  This reason is three-fold.  One, you'll get more familiar with the tools of the industry.  Two, is that you'll have coursework that be relevent to using those tools, and you'll already have your excuse to be at the computer lab, and three, you'll have plenty of resources around you to ask questions when you get stuck on your coursework.  There's nothing like creating a network of people to help you.

Good luck!  Get to the office early, or call them on Monday!!!

  2. You fill out your FAFSA. This determines your need. Go to the financial aid office and ask if any company has offered a college work study position. They should be able to tell  you what is available.

  3. you are suppose to apply for college work study on the FAFSA. Another way is to go your fincial aid office and fill out a form that requests that you want to obtain work study. Fill out the estimate  amount of money you want per semester or for the academic year. in 7 to 10 days, you will be certified.
