Because nothing is for certain.

So, say you have an awesome opportunity.

And your current situation is horrible, about to get worse.

But the choice isn't up to you, so you don't want to be too hopeful. It's the worst feeling in the world when hope is crushed.

How do you stop thinking about the possibilities?

  1. 'If you never expect anything, you'll never be disappointed'.

It's both cliché and cynical but there's a good reason that the phrase is so common.

  2. i think you work to get that opportunity, let your boss or bosses know you are interested , and HOPE.   Pray if you like.

Honest. I think the term "false hope" is not useful.

I don't think there is much point in hoping if you haven't worked for something, or you don't have the skills, but the only case where it is false hope is when you are wishing for the impossible ( I wish i cold control the weather like Storm.)

we only define it as false hope after the fact - when we have not gotten what we want.

the disappointment? it is going to happen.

  3. i kinda expect the worst most of the time

  4. You will adapt to it. I am in a similar situation. Perhaps there will come a time where something that you can do will influence your outcome. I am currently at that point. Then you will have a genuine reason for living. But until then, you get used to it. It's not pleasant, but it's inevitable, assuming that you're mentally stable (of course you are).

  5. By not expecting anything.

Which basically means fail in life.

  6. that's easy

by stop thinking about the possibilities

once it gets to that level  its out of your control

if you are going to think about the situation anyway

then i suggest you think about what you want to  happen

why in this world would you spend your time thinking about things you don't want to happen

if by chance your thoughts play a role in the process   think about the best side and be prepared to deal with the situation no matter  which way it goes

because it will only   happen one of two ways

that way  or the other way

  7. I don't. I'm a glass-half-full person. However, I do take all good things with a grain of salt. but even in the worst situations, I can find good. I just accept that everythings going to be ok... and that I am going to be okay.. :D things could always be a lot worse!

  8. Be like me...void yourself of hope.

  9. i don't think you can, unfortunatley.  but i guess you could keep your mind on something else.. ?

  10. im a pesimist.

sadly, i always expect the worse.

    :/
