It seems so much easier to gain weight in the winter. How do you avoid this or even continue with weight loss. Diet pop and 0 calorie flavored waters can seem to cold to drink. If a person doesn't care for coffee or tea, what do you suggest?

  1. Try a hot protein shake:  1/2 scoop 100% whey protein with 8 ounces skim milk.  Bring the milk to a temperature you like, add the protein and mix.  Nice alternative to a hot cocoa with whole milk and chocolate.

During the winter most people tend to stay indoors more.  Try to stay active, even if you have to move it indoors.

  2. turn on some music & dance daily

  3. try soups such as chicken noodle or mi-sou.

also, do crunches and leglifts while watching tv or take a walk. it gets your blood flowing and you feel warmer.

    Take Care(:

  4. Buy a treadmill :)

  5. go to the tanning bed walk around your mall... exercise in your home and watch what you eat

  6. Warm fat-free milk is a good alternative to coffee or tea, or simply heating up your favorite flavored water(you don't have to drink them cold). Drinking lots of water in general is a good practice so keep your water bottle at room temp. Keep up with fresh fruit and veggies instead of the hearty hot foods that are so often served in the winter like rich stews or casserole dishes, laden with salt, cheese, pastas or fatty meats. Hot vegetables soups with beans and lentils are healthy and filling; pot pies filled with lean beef or white chicken breast is good if you keep the sodium in the broth/sauce down. And of course, you'll need to still get some excersise, which is a great way to keep warm and avoid the winter blues. Go for walks in the crisp cold air, go ice skating or sledding or skiing, join a gym- keep active inside and out. And watch your portion size and sleep cycle. Overeating and indulging in comfort foods is common with seasonal depression and just feeling cold in the winter so keep your portions sensible. With longer days, its easy to feel sleepy or sleep too much in the winter but your body needs regular hours year-round. Good luck!

  7. drink warm milk with honey or chocolate milk with powder flavoring

  8. Stay away from anything but water. there are alot of reasons why its hard to stay slim in the winter.

1.) since the days are shorter, your mind is exposed to much less sunlight. this along with the cold causes you to be much more suceptible to depression which for most people causes in activity and hunger.

2.) there isnt much to do in the winter cause its so freakin cold outside

3.) the holidays and all that food

try to get a gym membership near to you and go regularly. even if your there for thirty minutes, its better than nothing. i hope this helps:) josh 19 KC Mo

  9. Go on a diet that is regimented and easy to follow... that will give you plenty of options and require you to eat at least 6 times a day! (that will keep you busy!) Medifast works that way. I've lost 58lbs doing it.
