One time I was throwing a right at my opponent's face and, as I moved forward, he caught me with a right of his own and cut my lip.

  1. Never walk strait at  a person when your going to hit them always move in a diagonal that way if they hit you it will just slide off and you wont be taking the full force of the punch

  2. Don't move forwards.

  3. Some easy tips:

    - don't hang your head forward

    - when you jab, circle out a little instead of just moving forward

    - feint a little to see how he reacts

    - learn to move and breathe in a relaxed manner so that he doesn't know when to counter

  4. that happens to everyone dont worry just keep moving the whole fight trying to get angles on him if your not moving your upper body you want to be moving your lower body try and pivot and get angles on your opponets

  5. you move your feet outside his feet to avoid the straight right punch.  this is when footwork becomes essential.  if you moved inside, it would be much easier for him to hit you.  if that doesn't work, then bobbing-and-weaving should work.

  6. feint then punch, throws his timing off, but don't feint every time, mix it up

  7. your opponent is a good counter puncher.

anyways, try to weave your head everytime you step in or just tighten up your guard, in that way you can avoid to get caught while stepping in...

  8. Sounds like you made the fatal error of leading with your right. A old trick to avoid walking into a punch is as quickly as you throw your lean down slightly with it and do a quick short dip with your legs.
