How do you backup a file on your laptop?

my school has computers to take to class and they want you to back up assignments and files..what does that mean how do i do it?

Since the computers are not yours, you need to make a copy of the files (assignments or other personal files which you have created since you use that computer) and save it somewhere else (like in an external hard disk or flash drive) for your own... This is necessary since the computer is not yours, and the school will certainly delete all files in that computer once you return it...

Backup here means make another copy of your files...
