I was wondering if there is any special way to bake sweet potatoes? My husband hates them, so I never made any, but I love them so I'm gonna make them for myself! Thanks!

  1. I bake mine just like a regular potatoe and when it is done I put butter and cinnamon on it.

  2. This is a special and easy way to do it. If you want it crispy put it in the oven for 5 minutes if you want it normal put it in the microwave

  3. Wash 'em, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt bake till tender.

  4. I either bake mine in foil in the oven for a few hours or in a bowl of water in the microwave for 5 minutes.

  5. I'd bake them just like a regular potato.  I put olive oil on the skins and leave them in the oven at 350 for about an hour, and they're wonderful!

  6. I like to cut them into small chunks and toss them with a little olive oil, salt, pepper, and red pepper. Then I throw them on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven (at like 450 degrees) for 20+ minutes (check them frequently to see when they're fork tender).

  7. Things You’ll Need:

        * Fruit And Vegetable Peelers

        * Steamer Sets

        * Potato Ricers

        * Baking sheets

    Step1

    Bake sweet potatoes in their jackets. Wash, cut off the ends and bake in a preheated 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes (depending on the size of the potatoes and how firm you want them to be). Bake the potatoes on a baking sheet; the sugars in the potatoes can drip out and burn on the floor of your oven.

    Step2

    Roast peeled chunks of sweet potatoes with onions in a 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes. Drizzle a little olive oil on the potatoes first.

    Step3

    Boil or steam peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes, either cut into chunks or not, until tender. The time will vary depending on the size of the potatoes or chunks - from 5 minutes for small chunks to 30 minutes for whole potatoes.

    Step4

    Wrap peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes loosely in plastic wrap (prick with a fork in a few places first) and microwave 10 to 15 minutes or until tender. (Use the Potato setting if your microwave has one.)

    Step5

    Mash cooked sweet potato and blend with butter and a little milk for a smooth puree. Add brown sugar plus cinnamon, cloves or ginger if you wish. A well-cooked sweet potato will mash almost instantly with just a fork.

  8. To bake a sweet potato, just clean with a vegetable brush, then place in a 450 degree oven for 35 to 45 minutes (until fork tender)

    Remove from oven and top with favorite topping such as butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, etc.

    Enjoy!

  9. Make-Ahead Baked Sweet Potatoes

    Stuff the skins with seasoned sweet potato filling ahead of time and bake just before dinner. Saving time never tasted so good.

    6 medium sweet potatoes (2 1/4 pounds)

    1/4 cup sour cream

    2 tablespoons milk

    2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

    2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

    1/8 teaspoon salt

    1. Heat oven to 375ºF. Pierce sweet potatoes with fork to allow steam to escape. Bake about 45 minutes or until tender.

    2. Cut thin lengthwise slice from each potato; carefully scoop out inside of potato, leaving a thin shell. Mash potatoes in large bowl until no lumps remain. Beat in sour cream and milk. Beat in brown sugar, butter and salt until potatoes are light and fluffy.

    3. Place shells in ungreased rectangular baking dish, 13x9x2 inches. Fill shells with potato mixture. Cover and refrigerate no longer than 24 hours.

    4. Heat oven to 400ºF. Bake uncovered about 25 minutes or until potato mixture is golden brown. (If baking filled shells immediately after mashing potatoes, bake about 20 minutes.)
