  1. There are some tips here http://www.guinealynx.info/grooming.html

  2. Well, usually a healthy short haired Guinea Pigs can keep themselves clean. But if your guinea pig REALLY needs it you can give them a bath once every 3 months. If you bathe them more often than that their natural oils in their skin will dry out and cause skin irritations. I honestly don't recommend bathing, but if the pig really needs it you can use Johnsons Small Animal Shampoo, or any shampoo made for small animals. DO NOT use shampoos made for humans, they have too many toxins that will kill your pig! Small animal shampoos only, even ferret shampoos will work!

I usually bathe my long hairs in the kitchen sink, fill the sink in about 2 inch deep water. You can use the kitchen sink sprayer (water on LOW!) to rinse them. Just remember, no human shampoo/soap, don't use hot water guinea pigs don't do well with high temperatures, luke warm only. And you will have a hopefully happy piggy :)

  3. i have one and if you follow this you will do fine. OK first fill a bucket half way with water. second pour a little Guinea pig shampoo in the bucket. then put the Guinea pig in bucket. be sure to keep its head out of the water or else it wold drown!

  4. Very carefully.

Most guinea pigs don't need to be bathed, and if they do, it's not frequently. I have three pigs and the only one I bathe is the long-haired one because if I don't, she gets soaked in urine.

I put a few inches of warm water in the sink and then put the guinea pig in. I use a very gentle child's detangling shampoo. Make sure not to use anything too harsh and don't get it near their eyes, nose, or ears - most pigs only need to be washed underneath, anyway. When it's time to rinse the shampoo out, don't use water directly from the tap - put the water in a glass, make sure it's the right temperature, and then pour it on the pig. Make sure you get all the shampoo out.

Also, make sure the guinea pig is dried completely before you put him back in his cage. Towel dry him and hold him until he's completely dry. If you have a long haired pig, make sure to comb his hair gently with a wide tooth comb to make sure there aren't any tangles or mats.
