  1. for a lawyer - 4 years of college then law school and you have to pass the Bar Exam for the state you wish to practice in.  The better law firms usually hire students/graduates from law schools such as Bolt (Berkley), Stanford, Yale, and Harvard.  A good lawyer can make a lot of money but they hours can also be very long.  Sometimes you have to work 24 or more hours straight to prepare for trials.

Doctors - 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school and residency in the area you want to specialize in.

Sometimes doctors become lawyers and work on malpractice cases.

  2. Be really smart.  Get really good grades.  8 years for either.

Lawyer - then pass the bar

Doctor - intern and pass your boards

To start probably $100k then the sky is the limit

Both jobs are very stressful ~ take alot of time - need to be devoted to your job

  3. For both professions, you need to first get a Bachelor's degree and then go on to either Med school or Law school (be prepared to come out of school with a lot of debt).  After Med school, you would also do a residency (think ER or Grey's Anatomy) where you learn to doctor at long hours with low pay.

Your income would depend on what type of doctor or lawyer you decide to become.  For example, a lawyer with legal aid doesn't make all that much while a lawyer coming out of a good school (Duke, Harvard, etc.) can hook on with a top law firm for $100,000 a year.

Similarly, a doctor can either work in a clinic and help the low-income people for low wages or be a specialist in a high income neighborhood (think plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills) and make hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It all depends on what type of Doctor or Lawyer you want to be and sometimes what school you go to.

  4. First of all you must be one of the higher students academically in order to be considered. Then you have to take all the courses which will enhance your college education in the field of your choice. Now for the SAT scores for your undergraduate work so you will be accepted into a college. Once in pre med or pre law you take all the requirements for graduate studies.Up to now the funds  of $35 to 40M / year were needed. Four years of med school for the Doctor followed by 2 years of intern and 2 years in specialty and you may be ready for practice. That will cost another $100M. You will have to check the most recent law school costs as well as pass the LSATs.

  5. go to school! pass the board exams! kb

  6. Can't answer the doctor question, but I can tell you that being a lawyer, particularly a trial lawyer, can be quite exciting.  Admittedly, a lot of hours can go into a case, tons of research and writing briefs, motions and various court documents, but the thrill (at the end of the day) is representing something/someone you believe in.  Schooling is 4 years of college then 3 years of law school, after which you take the Bar exam and, God willing, you pass it, you get admitted to your state and congratulations!  You get to put Esq. at the end of your name and do something really great.  As for the pay, that can be a lovely chunk of change, too!  GO FOR IT!!!

  7. They require usually a lot of schooling. You need like 8 for a doctor. Yes they are payed, a lot. They also are not very easy schools to get into. I think about my future, too, but i have no idea what i am going to do.
