As for a PT, I would first start by getting significant experience in the sports med setting.  A couple years after graduation, sit for your orthopedic specialist exam and sports med certification.  Actively participate in research and publish several papers relating to the treatment of athletes.  Even consider returning for a pHD (beyond your DPT). After you've established your name and repuation would I consider you elligible to be working for a professional team.
