  1. always be confident thats its going to go in. also, when you hit, remember to swing down and threw, all the way threw.

With serving i just take a step, and i dont move, it helps control your serves better and you dont have to hit as hard. Im 5'2 and i can hit over a 6' girl.. trust me, just make sure your timing is right and always swing through

  2. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.....i am in 8th grader but i started playing volleyaball when i was in 5th grade,,,,i practiced alot with my aunt who played h.s. volleyball....she taught me how 2 dive.spike.bump,n set....i was not good in 5th n i cldnt do undahand 2 nothin.....NOW i do overhand like a professional(my overhands come down like spikes but harder)..n i am NOW CAPTAIN of my team......SET UR MIND 2 IT........

  3. practice and take your time, think what you are going to do

  4. When serving, start a few steps back from the end line so you have enough room to step. If you do overhand, hold the ball directly infront of you and pull your hand back like you are pullling back a bow and arrow. Then when you toss the ball, make sure you toss it directly in front of you then smack that ball!!!

Now, when you hit, you want to remember to use the form, left right left or right left right (if you are a lefty). As you go up to hit, make your arms go back, so you have momentum when you jump, then hit the ball with your hand wide and open. As soon as you hit it, remeber to snap your wrist. This will make the ball actually go down to make it a kill.

Remember, whenever you hit or serve, hit that ball as hard as you can!

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

  5. Well, the key is getting comfortable hitting the ball.  A large part of that is your form.  Ask your coach to critique your approach and how you can improve it, keep practicing your approach, even if you don't have a ball to hit, then you'll know your form is right when you actually do go to hit.  Then work on timing and positioning.  A lot of times a drill I did before is just to stand at the net, have someone toss it and jump up and hit it.  I wasn't going to be hitting a lot of quick sets like that, but it helps me get a general feel of where the ball should be relative to where I am when I'm hitting.  As for positioning, try to keep the ball in front of you when you hit, it's hard to describe without actually showing you, but if you hit it out, it usually means the ball is behind or above your head.  Work on form and positioning first, making sure you have a good approach, and then keeping the ball in front of you.  Furhter you want to snap your wrist when you hit so you give the ball topspin, and it'll drop.  Once you have that down, and can hit it down consistently, start adding power, you do that by swinging your arm faster.  A drill I used to do on my own to get good hitting technique and contact was a warm up on my shoulders.  Basically just hit downward against a wall so the ball hits the ground, hits the wall, then comes back to you.  I used this to work on snapping my wrist.  Before you play, make sure you warm up your shoulders as well as just passing around, I do this normally by throwing a ball back and forth with the partner I'm going to pepper with.

I'm sure a lot of this is probably redundant to you, but these are the best ways I can think of to hit and serve better.  First get the form perfectly, then start speeding up your armswing.  A lot of power will come from form and timing, making sure you hit the ball at the peak of your jump, and that'll take adjusting to the set.  To adjust to the set well, you need to make sure your approach is solid.

  6. Jump behind the ball, not under.

Snag your wrist when contacting the ball.

  7. Go and work out a little more to hit harder and to not hit it out practice hitting it straight.

  8. Everybody says you got potential, it's so you think more of yourself and play better, anyways, on to the point...PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!

  9. as a former D1 player at Howard University in DC. this is what i recommend.

    1. hit the weight room. if your school has a trainer as him/her to make you a work ourt that will focus on developing lower body and upper body strength and explosiveness. this will improve your vertical and you serving and hitting power.

    2. if you parents are willing to pay for you to play club or off season volleyball this will help tremendously. if not see if any of your local rec centers IE YMCA, Boys and girls clubs. etc have volleyball teams any extra time you can dedicate to improving your skills is helpful.

    3. focus on proper technique. all coaches teach their players in diff rent methods. so which ever method you have been exposed to Learn to do it perfectly. it worked for me

    Go Bison!!!!!!

  10. If you can get over the net when you jump to hit, remember to snap your wrist down, it helps a lot. For serving, try doing a different number of steps, or doing a small jump/skip at the end. The same way of serving doesn't work for everyone, you've got to experiment with it and find out what works for you.

  11. first, don't push yourself too hard. proficiency in the game doesn't come instantly. next, when you hit the ball, don't jump under the ball but behind it.. always, face the ball and never move your body away from the ball.. when you jump, jump with two feet and when you land, make sure that you land with both feet.. when you serve, do not toss the ball so high.. toss it just above the net and hit it at the maximum height your arms can reach.. and don't over-follow through..

  12. well you should throw high and hit it win it is justat your palm and dont fallow threw

  13. as far as hitting, make sure you hit the ball slightly infront of you (not over your head) at its peak instead of when its dropping. work on your vertical and follow through with your swing. flick your wrist to direct it downward.

  14. make sure you really load up when you do your approach, what i mean is swing your arms up and get them high then slam down on the ball. make sure you time your approach too start when the set has just left the setters hands
