  1. I am a life guard and got certified from the Amersican Red Cross.  I know work at my local pool.  It is not really that heard.  You just have to take a week long class that is pretty easy.

At the end you take a test that is both CPR and AED ( the eletric paddle on the walls of public places)

The CPR part is longer than the AED part, but in all the test isn't all that hard.  After the test or before it you demonstrate your skills on a dummy in front of an instructer.  You use a baby, child and adult manikin.

It is pretty easy and cool.  If you want to be a life guard, then that is a bit harder and longer.

    Good Luck.

  2. Depending on your location you would want to talk to the American heart association chapter or the red cross chapter in your area, locate them in www.redcross.com And they are always in need of instructors.
