  1. I'm assuming you mean a medical doctor- there are other kinds like psychologists (of which I am one).

You go to college, and try to make your classes look attractive to a medical school- they call it a pre-med track. In your junior year of college, you start applying to medical schools. They interview you. Your grades must be very good- oh, and you can have zero legal problems (other than speeding tickets max).

When you are in medical school, there are some general programs in the first few years. After that, they ask you to specialize. Then you do this thing called a residency where you are a doctor supervised by other doctors.

Then you sit for a very hard test called your boards. Then you are a licensed doctor.

And Tom above- with a hat like that, the only thing I would try to be is a newspaper boy.

  2. With that sentence structure, I wouldn't even try.

  3. First you take pre-med courses. then you spend 5-6 years at med school, then you spend a year or two as an intern and then maybe you will be a doctor, of course if you specialize it's more school.

  4. - Get into a good school.  Major in a life science or take a lot of science and math courses.  Gain experience through some type of healthcare work or volunteering.  You should have a 3.5 or better.

    - Get a good score on the MCAT.  Get into med school.  Do well so you can get a good residency.

    - Put in for your residency wish list, and hope you get a good one.  Take your first set of boards.

    - Start your residency in a chosen concentration (2-7 years depending on the specialty).

-- Then you can practice on your own as a general/family doctor, internist, or specialist such as cardiology.
