like if your just a plane racer that races for fun, how do you move up into a factory possition? i dont understand!

some people have told me that you have to apply and others have told me that you just ride and the big dogs notice you and then they work with you to see if the like you. is there like a college that you have to attend to become a pro racer? being a racer has been a dream of mine forever but i dont know how to get moving farther in my prefesoin.

  1. WIN, DON'T CRASH, AND WHEN YOU DO ,RACE HURT,UNLESS YOU HAVE BRAIN MATTER COMING OUT YOUR EARS, BEING COMMITTED , SMART, GOOD WITH PEOPLE, TEAM PLAYER, TAKE CARE OF THE PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT YOU

  2. You definitely have to be winning national events to even get noticed for a factory ride.  But you can start with other stuff and work your way up.  Sign up for sponsorhouse.com.  (it's free!) You make your own profile and the sponsors come to you.  You list your events and what you placed along with pictures and general information about yourself.  I know a few people who've used this and it actually works.  At first you may just get offered discounts for gear and such, but that's a start right?  You can also apply to potential sponsors as well and see if they like you.

    good luck with everything =)

  3. As a former non-factory pro I can tell you my take. In motocross most of the pro riders start at a young age and have factory support during the mini ranks and move up from there. The kids that are winning get all the support and it stays that way during their career. There are obvious exceptions, but generally the way I laid it out is the case. Physical training, practice, practice, practice, and the right equipment are my reccommendation. There is no college, but there are schools usually taught by former pro's.

  4. Usually the factory riders are noticed and offered a ride.  To be noticed you have to win absolutely everything you race in and keep on doing well.

Unless you are winning at a national level you will have to be satisfied with just being a plain old rider.

The first step towards getting help is to start winning and then you approach different shops or dealerships to see if they want to take you on as a supported rider.  That way you can get bikes on race plan which usually means you get the bike very cheap and you don't have to pay for it till the end of the season.  You also get all items necessary for racing a lot cheaper,  but again to even be in that position you need to be doing really well to be able to promote the dealership that you ride for.

So perhaps aim to move to the next obvious step and that is to just get some sort of support instead of attempting to work towards a factory ride, as they are few and far between.
