How do you become a fashion stylist for a magazine?

what do you need to do?

i know how to sew.

i've made clothes.

i'm going to fashion school after i get my BA in communications.

I've been doing photography for 4 years

and i'm going to start cosmetology in the fall.

what do i need to do to become a fashion stylist for a fashion magazine?

well it seems you have all these talents but dont know how to put them to good use!  In order to get a job as a stylist or stylist assistant, you should have a way to showcase your style.  Get a photographer (yourself in this case!) and get good models and a good makeup artist.  Style a shoot!  If you are the photographer, then you can come up with the concept with your own self.  Then go out and get the clothes for the models.

There are designers who let stylists borrow clothes for shoots, etc.  Otherwise you'll have to buy stuff.  (don't forget accessories).

This is how you build a portfolio.

Alternatively, you can make a name for yourself by helping ppl style themselves, from their own wardrobe and/or helping them shop.  

In the end though, you need some sort of way to PRESENT your talent (along with a resume) to magazines, whether by portfolio or website or whatever.
