  1. You have to go to an institution that offers a degree in such a field.  My university offered a biological program that could easily be parlayed into the field.

Next, many cities want you to become a police officer first, and then specialize.  You just have to look into your local educational institutions and the local police to find out how to do it.

  2. Many do not specialized in Forensic Anthropology until the PhD level.  My college is one of the few in the country that allows you to major in Forensic Anthropology (graduate level).  You need a BA or BS in Anthropology and I have known some graduate students to have a minor in Biology as well.  The graduate programs are very competetive.  Presently, there are only about 70 Forensic Anthropologist in the World.  Even after you get your PhD you may not be considered to be a Forensic Anthropologist because many states require you to become certified....about 4 or 5 years after you get your PhD.  You will most likely work in a university setting as very few actually find employment in government settings.  If there is a case usually the government agency in charge contacts a Forensic Anthropologist working at a university for help.

  3. You get a bachelors degree in a science such as biology then you get a PhD in forensic Anthropology

  4. Well the first thing to do is to major in anthropology.  You don't have to, but it's very highly recommended to do so.  In fact, majoring in biology and anthropology is a very good thing when you want to become a forensic anthropologist.  Next, you need to look at the different schools around the country that offer programs and classes in physical and specifically forensic anthropology.  There are only a few that offer anthropology degrees with a specialization in forensics at the graduate level and they're very competitive but vital to being a forensic anthropologist.

If you have a Master's in forensic anthro, there are some places where you can practice it, mostly connected to universities, but most of the time a PhD is needed to actually call yourself a forensic anthropologist.  There are even less forensic anthro PhD programs, but they're all really good and connected to some awesome professors.

Bottom line, you have to find out where you're going to school, get in, and then work your *** off for several years in order to become a forensic anthropologist.
