How do you become a freelance writer? Is there any money in it?

I was approved to add an article in a large organization at work... not a paid gig, but I received many compliments on it and some exposure. :-)

Certainly not a lot at the start.  You could begin by writing articles for your local community newspapers.    If you are good they will keep buying and  possibly move on to bigger and more profitable venues.   It can take years to become established.
