I was just wondering how long it takes, how much it costs, what you can earn etc. I'm a 28 year old male, fit, healthy and intelligent and i just thought i'd look into it. I'm in the UK.

  1. go to helicopter flying school  or just google it to see what comes up

  2. Join the Raf  or the army

  3. Most people join the military to learn to fly helicopters. For most this is the only practical possibility considering that learning to fly a helicopter costs easily 2-3 times the cost of learning to fly an airplane.

If the military is not your thing, I would suggest getting all of your ratings in a fixed wing airplane, and then getting a commercial helicopter add-on. This will save you LOTS of money in the end (a solo cross-country is the same whether you do it in an airplane or a helicopter).

  4. join the army

  5. study ( airplane engineering )

  6. Unless you`re minted or have a relative or friend who can teach you, I`d suggest joining the RAF - Lessons at our club are about 430 pounds an HOUR and you need to do at least about 45 hours!
