How do you become a kindergarten teacher?

I have a year and a half left in the navy. When I get out, I plan on going to college and getting my Bachelors. What kind of classes should I be taking and what is required to become a kindergarten teacher? I know there is a certain amount of time you are supposed to be a student teacher and all that as well correct?

I just really want to work with kids...is there any other jobs that would give me that opportunity instead that I haven't though about?

You need to take education courses in college and in your final year of school you will student teach and have to pass several certification exams.

That is what is required in the state of PA and is probably similar in all states!

get your generals in and then you can take classes to further you career in education. you have to do a half of a year of student teaching.'

then you should get your master's also

actually i am studying to be a kindergarten teacher also. I'm 23 and straight out of high school no one would give me a loan for college cause my mother was a drunk and had horrible credit.  after a few years of working i decided to take online classes.   They don't tell you that you can be a teacher but you can I'm studying to teach k-7.  I chose ashord university , but my mother does strayer university both online.  Strayer is a lot harder and the classes are longer, with ashford each class is only 5 weeks long and so not a hassle, but you can call their counselors and they will give you a graph of each class you have to take to get certified. also if you want to save time and have extra cash some of the classes you could take at a community college.  Almost ANYONE can get a loan for it cause it doesn't cost much. and you'd be able to pay it back maybe in 1 year less than 10,000.

Basically depending on your state you need to get a bachelors degree in general education. From there you can teach grades K-6. BTW, during your senior year you'll have to do a year long internship in the school.
