How do you become a legal U.S. citizen?

My boyfriend's Mom is here in the U.S. illegally (my boyfriend isn't because he was born here) How can she become legal? My boyfriend and I want to help her as much as she can.. Does she have to go back to Mexico, or can him and I go? Any info is good

If your boyfriend is over 21 years old, he can sponsor her visa for permanent residency.  It used to be that she wouldn't have to go back to Mexico, but with the new immigration laws, I'm not sure this is true anymore.  Your boyfriend will need to file form I-130.  That form will have companion forms, so read the instructions and follow them very carefully.  You can get all the information for this at http://immigrationroad.com/green-card/fa...

A lot of people will not be happy about her being here illegally.  So, the sooner you can get this done, the better.

I am in no way an expert.   I just want to say to "Mom":   I want to commend you for wanting to be a legal immigrant to this country.   I myself live in a neighborhood with a lot of illegals and I will admit I am not too happy with having them here.  I will not go any further into this issue beyond saying I wish my neighbor was "Mom" and not them.

There is no longer any way to get permission to remain for anyone in the US illegally.  She must return to Mexico.  She will be barred from re-entry.  The length of the ban depends on how long she remained in violation of immigration laws or visa regulations.  She might get a shorter ban if she returns immediately and voluntarily than if she is deported.

Your bf 's mom can apply for his Mexican passport at any Mexican consulate as he has a right to Mexican citizenship by birth to a Mexican citizen, so he can go with her.

As for you, do you have any claim to Mexican citizenship by birth to a Mexican citizen?  Otherwise, you would have to apply for immigration to Mexico.

She has to go back to Mexico and apply legally-she is breaking the law now.

Since you want to help her so bad why don't you and your boyfriend go with her to keep her company so she won't be lonely.
