  1. Well my advice would be.. Keep at it and work hard

Study books and when u are experienced enough, find a poker tournament wherever there is one and play!

Try focussing on Working hard and studying books that will help increase your skill and knowledge in Poker. If you have ESPN watch the occasional International Poker Tournament.and gain experience from the players.

Find a player who is extremely good and watch him play a tournament and also, gain experience.

Just work hard and find all the ways u believe could boost your skills.

  2. I started out in a 50 dollar tournament with rebuys. I got to where I could win those every single time and then moved on to cash games. I started out small in cash games maybe 25/50 blinds and moved up. I am not technically a pro by any means but I have played with Chris Moneymaker (he just got lucky in the WSOP, he's really easy to read) Read all you can but experience is what will really get you going. If you know you have a boat for instance and the book says to slow play and the other players at the table for instance have read the books as well and know that an amateur is going to slow play instead of mixing it up, they are going to fold. It's a good thing to read and know different styles but conform your style of play to your personality and then change it up a bit. NEVER play a hand the way a book says to play a hand it will get you some crappy pots on some killer hands.

  3. Well you said any, so hopefully you can find something in what I say.  Ive been playing holdem for a little less then 5 years now, but I still consider myself a complete novice when I compare myself to any pros or even semi pros.

When it comes to you getting your name out there, your best bet will be tournaments.  Every pro started out small, and it sounds like your doing well.  Just like me, we are in it for the experience right now.  Hopefully get a little respect on the way.  And maybe get a little lucky down the road.

I would recommend start playing online if you haven't.  Online is a great opportunity to play in satellite tournaments for free entrance into the small and big tournaments.  (Im sure youve played online, but its really a different game style when it comes to poker, and it your playing for money it can end up biting your *** if your not careful.)  If your going to take your holdem experience to online, I would say read a book or two so the transition is easy.  Sometimes players find it difficult to transfer from a slow to fast pace game.

Out side of trying to get your name out there through small all the way to big tournaments and playing a little online, read and get as much experience as you can.  Knowledge is power and with poker that is defiantly true.  I wish you the best of luck, but remember, you have to have the passion to have the drive.
