How do you become a teacher?

I am interested in becoming an early elementrey teacher. I'm wondering what courses you have to take and what is required to start teaching? I live in Maryland and I have no idea where to start, I would really like to do classes online because I have a 6 year old who starts Kindergarden this year. Is that possiable?

You need a degree.

You need to prove subject matter competency (e.g. praxis)

Usually, you need to do an approved teacher credentialing program

you have to take classes in all subject areas. is there a community college near by? try and take classes there in Early Childhood Education. you need to have child psychology classes as well to have a better understanding about children and how they think and process things. Also check online at Universities and and Community Colleges and see if they offer the classes online. you might have to take some in a classroom. good luck

First, you have to go to college.After two years, I think they are going to let you choose your major. Then you just pick whatever you want,teaching.

You will have to go to college to get the degree, if you already have a bachelor degree you have to take a state Praxis exam and then once you've passed you can start taking classes to help you get teacher certification. They will be classes like CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT and HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT, things like that. You then have to take a Praxis II exam to get the certificate. The Praxis exams are based on basic knowledge math, reading and writing. The Praxis II exam is based on your area of education. Like if you want to be a math teacher it will be mostly math. Talk with your advisor at college. They will tell you the steps. Im in a education program right now. You take child phsyc classes and major in the area you will teach.
