How do you become a top contributor in Yahoo Answers?

The reason I am asking is that I have seen a lot of answers from supposed top answerers that are sarcastic and just plain nasty. So I was wondering how those people manage to some how receive the acolade of becoming a top contributor?

Yahoo only says that TC badges are awarded to those individuals who have shown themselves to be knowledgeable in a given category. They do not indicate what criteria they use to decide this.

To be a top contributor you need to be knowledgeable in up to three category's. the exact formula is kept secret by yahoo but the common theory is that you need a minimum of 10 percent best answers in each particular  category and is said to be reviewed weekly. the top contributor badge is not permanent and can be removed at any time.So choose the category's you feel you can get best answer and research every detail you can find with links to add to the answer and do not answer questions you don't think you can get you best answer (it will lower your percentage of best answers).

i agree with Jlynch. its all about the numbers. 2 ways, its either you answer the most questions, or the most best answers. both ways, you win. yup.

I have noticed the same thing.  I think its all in the numbers.  They just answer a ton of questions and they advance that way.  It's not how well they answer them.  Quantity vs. quality.
