I LOVE acting. I am only 12. turning 13 in November. I love acting not for the fame but just the acting. I would truly like to be a comedic actor. But I may be open to others. TV or movie would be fine.

  1. get acting classes then take the next step

  2. go to drama schools?

  3. You should definitely start small.  Start with regional theatre or with school plays and such.  Try out for the leads, or if you're gunning for comedy, the comedic roles.  Also, if you're entering the business, you'd probably want to work on being a triple threat, just in case you need it later on in life (dancing/singing), but that's entirely up to what you want.

You could invest in acting classes/courses that are often taught at theatres, and I believe that there are acting coaches you can hire for lessons.

In a couple of years you might want to start considering colleges with good, strong theatre programs in big cities like LA or NY, places where you can study and audition.

Depending on your parents and your confidence, you could even start auditioning INSTEAD of college.  Certain plays and musicals look for younger actresses for certain roles (eg: Les Miserables, Young Cosette).

I hope that helps!  Best of luck!

  4. Hey!

Its awesome that you want to be an actress. I'm really interested in it too. I would suggest starting with school/community plays and musicals. After you've done those and gotten a bit of experience, check out the possibility of taking a professional acting class. It boosts your confidence and looks great on a resume. After that, you have got to get a few good head shots. If you can't afford a professional photographer, you can go to a local school and ask the photog students to do a testing. A testing is when they take your picture so they can get the experience. Then, work on sending out your information (resume and head shots) to agents or casting directors.

    Best of Luck.

  5. It's a lot of hard work and money to find yourself in the movies or reach any kind of public recognition. You need to work your way up from the bottom: get involved in school and community theatre productions, get headshots, audition for an agent (learn a couple of contrasting monologues in advance), take acting lessons, and basically build up your resume. Break a leg.
