  1. archaeology used to be one of my options, but trust me. i've lived in two of the most historic places in the world. there is no job!

  2. Most respected undergraduated majors are:

    Anthropology or

Art History, Criticism, and Conservation or

    Classics or

    Geology or

    History or

    Zoology or

    Archaeology

Whether you concentrate on older societies that left behind no written records or later groups that did, you’ll need a graduate degree to qualify for most archaeology careers. To work as a professional in this field, you'll need at least a master's degree. Your career will be limited, however, unless you have a Ph.D.

A graduate program often translates into more research studies and excavations for you to get involved in.

Archaeology is alive and well in Deadwood, South Dakota, where construction on a new parking lot was halted when workers found the remains of the old Chinatown.

Good luck on whatever you do.
