How do you become an extra for film/tv?

Question

I want to be an extra in film/tv because: a) I'm new to the industry and want to get a better understanding of how things work, and b) could use the extra money.

But I have no idea how to go about becoming an extra. I'm currently north of LA (simi valley). Thank you in advance!

There are dozens of agencies that book you as an extra. Watch out for scammers! Best of luck
