  1. Happy Gilmore.

  2. Ok let me help you out here:

There are several ways to get on tour, but they all involve alot of skill and alot of luck.

    1) Get alot of press, like win the big highschool tournaments, get a scholarship to a D1 college, win some of those tournaments, and then try to turn pro with some sponsor exemptions.

    2) Go through Q school and make a name for yourself, win often, and eventually make the jump to the tour.

    3) Put down the money to join a mini tour, such as the Golden State Tour, or the Spanos Tour.  If you start winning here, people will notice and you might get invited to Nationwide tour events.  Then win here, and you might get invited to tour events.

    4) Be a child phenom, like Michelle Wei, who has made a TON of money without actually winning anything.  (most overrated athlete in the world)

All of these aside, getting to the tour is VERY HARD.  You must practice alot and win at the right time.  I dont want to smash your dreams, so keep practicing and it might happen.  But as for a truthful answer, the tour players make as much money as they do because they are the best in the world.  Most nationwide tour players struggle financially.  You need to continuously get better and never plateau at a certain score.

As for your scores, they should be under 40 for 9 holes.  Now, once you are a junior/senior, you should be right around par for 18 holes from the back tees on any course to have a shot to play for a D1 school.

As a side note, and this is only to help you, I play for a D1 school, my index is +0.7, or I average about 1 under par every round on some of the most difficult courses in the world, and I still get smoked by about 1/3 of the field.  Now, keep in mind that over 85% of collegiate athletes do not go pro in their respective sports because of skill level.

Go for the tour, but have a backup plan, thats the best advice i can give you.

  3. You usually have to go through Q-school or qualify and win the US Open.

If you are serious, I would aim for 36-40 on a Par 72 course from the white tees for 9 holes.

  4. Either Q-School, as the others said, or winning the U.S. Amatuer Championsip. I personnaly believe the latter is easier.

  5. Happy Gilmore became a part of it and was sponsored by Subway.

  6. Q-school,

or sponsors exemption from a tournament:

this is how Tiger got his tour card because he won the tournament he was exempted from

you should probably be shooting atleast couple under par @ 13 yrs if you wanna have a chance on the pga tour

Just remember, the harder you practice the luckier you get.
