I've always had an interest in athletics, and i get told by many people i'm very good at certain events, such as 100m sprint, 200m, and hurdles.

My fastest time in 100m sprint on grass in trainers, is 13.23 seconds, but on the track in my spikes, its alot faster. I'm the best female sprinter in my club, but i want to be more than that. What should i do next? Please help =D

  1. This website has a lot of information for UK junior athletes about upcoming events you should be competing in, training, advice on getting into the GB team etc. If you're serious this should provide a good starting point for you.

If you've been asked to compete for your country 3 times then how can you say no one is noticing you? Maybe you don't want it enough. I can't imagine any of the top athletes would have turned down a chance to represent their country just because they didn't want to miss a week of school.  Sacrifices have to be made.

No exams are important when you're 14 and if other athletes your age manage to do it I can't see why you can't. Maybe you have attracted the attention of the 'big people' but you turned them down 3 times. And if your time is correct of 11.02 seconds that would currently make you the fastest under 15's sprinter in all of the United Kingdom.  And all that with only 4 months serious training? Wow, you're either the most talented young athlete the UK has or you need to check that time again.

  2. you have to be one of the best in the country

  6. Well....13.23 in grass is okay and you said your faster on the track with spikes so prob. the best you could do on track would be about 12.00. Now keep in mind those girls in the 100m are running around 10.00. You can work on your leg muscles and also try out these things they have called leg weights. They are weights that you fasten around your ankles and you run with them on. After time when you take them off you will be faster. Also, it helps if you are a taller girl with long legs. If you are short with short legs it's gonna be hard. Just keep running and use the leg weights to build up your muscles in your legs (calf, hamstring, etc.). Good luck!
