How do you blanch purple hull peas?

  1. drop them into boiling water for just a minute or two... no more than five..then drain and put them in ice water for about another 2-5 minutes.  then you can put them into the freezer and they are great to just pull out and cook.


  2. Drop them in boiling water for 2 minutes - then dry them on a clean white tea towel or white cotton.  When they have cooled to about room temperature put them in air-tight bags and into the freezer.

    It is important that you dry them - otherwise the moisture will cause little ice crystals and it will ruin the beans.

    More gardeners should follow your example and save their veggies in the freezer.
