How do you brace yourself for an answer to a painful question?

How do you prepare yourself for an answer to a painful question? Meditation? Centering? Prayer? How?

I personally prefer both meditation and Centering but am interested in how others do it.

  1. in answering posted questions here in YA: i think of john lennon and the message of his song 'imagine' ...then let go.

    on answering personal questions, like a real face to face conversation, it really depends on how the question is delivered.. for me respect begets respect..

    i'm not so good at taking insults, i tend to fight back..


  2. Consider my approach, take a deep breath, neutralize my expression and body language then plunge ahead giving my message as honestly as possible and in a neutral voice.

  5. I try to consider what answers may be possible, and what the ramifications of those answers might be; this also helps me identify my emotions and possible reactions.  I then try to figure out what the best ways to handle those possibilities might be.  

    It's like preparing for a test.  :)  meditation and centering sound like things I should try to utilize as well.

  6. You better figure that out before you ask the question. Remember, if you don't realy want to know the truth then don't ask the question for you may NOT like the answer that you get.  BUT if you DO ask him and get the answer that you don't want to hear and decide to move on, keep this in mind. I have an opening here and you're more than welcome to move in.. LOL

  10. If the question is painful, then you already know the answer. So in effect there is no need to brace for the answer. You are actually bracing for when you face reality. If you ask yourself how to brace, chances are your mind has already begun the bracing process.
