  1. cut your fingers

  2. Hello!  You may want to sample different pointe shoes to see which one best works for you.  Don't listen to what someone else tells you to wear because what works for them may not work for you.  Research online how to break in pointe shoes.  I did a lot to my shoes to make them work for my feet.  I would pull the nail that was at the heal of the shoe out and bend the shank to where my natural arch was.  Then to add support to the shoe where it would normally break, I would put nails further down in the shank.  I also cut away the fabric from the tip of the shoe and then darned the tip of it of my point shoe with non waxed dental floss.  For the elastic I would use inch elastic and criss cross it  to add extra support.  Then I would stitch in elastic into the ribbon so that I wouldn't get tendinitis in the ankle.  So as you can see there is a lot that goes into pointe shoes and it will take you a while to find the right fit and the correct way, for you, to break them in.  Good Luck!

  3. i were grishkos 2007s and they will take awile for me, i try to bend them were i want them to 'break' after i've worn them for class because they'll actually bend more then since they are warm and sweaty, there isnt a set amout of time it takes to break them in bc it depends on how much you wear them and how broke in you want them, i need mine broken fairly far and by the time that happens i have to get a new pair bc the box it too soft, it you want a pair to break in fast get grishkos proflex, theyre just like the 2007s but come partially broken in already

  4. when i get new shoes i break them in in several ways. fist of all i bend mine to so they are not so stiff i get the heel and bend it back to the toe sole to sole and then top ofthe shoe to the top. my shoes are double backed so i also take out the nail in the sole at the heel of my shoe. i will srtand on the block a few time to soften it up and give it a good banging and finally i will do tones of rises and releves in them so my foot gets used to the new shoe and it can mold to my feet. just be careful when you do yours that you don't break them too much just do what you need to so you can dance properly.

also remember these are your first pair so your feet won't be as strong as more experienced dancers so you will most likely need more support in your shoes! good luck! happy dancing =)

  5. You have to break them in just where the heel ends and the toe begins. This video is really helpful. It tells you how to break them in properly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX-PNqJr9...

  6. Put your pointe shows on.

Go into demi and mark where you feet bends. Break them there smoothly. Again, go into demi and find where your arch is. Break them there smoothly.

When I say, demi, I mean demi pointe.

When I say break them smoothly, I mean to gently roll the shoe were it needs to bend

  7. I scratch up the toe so they're not so slippery & completely bend the arch back & fourth so my foot will arch completely inside-

also sew wide elastic (@1") on the inside so that when I put them on, the elastic is tight over the top of my foot. & I like the gel toe inserts the best w/ a peice of muslin between my toes & the insert. & make sure your shoes are warm before you put them on so they'll mold better to your feet... but, no matter what, my feet always bleed for the 1st month.

  8. it sounds really stupid but you either break them through dancing or you have to keep on rising in demi-pointe

  9. be careful you don't really brake them like my sister did she only had them 4 a week
