Question:

How do you break a competitive mentality?

If someone has a mentality where they tend to do things out of a competitive nature, how would they go about breaking this? For example, if a friend decides he is going to read a book every night before he goes to bed, this individual starts reading a book as well because he feels that if he doesn't that he is not going to be as good. Essentially, he is comparing himself to his friend. It is a good goal and he wants to better himself, but it seems more like it is coming out as a competition or something.

How would one go about breaking this? Are there any books or resources that could help with it? Thanks for the help!

  1. "how" i don't know .

but , it is possible only for strong people.

  2. It is normal to be somewhat competitive. However, if the competitiveness extends to where you are staying up all night reading so you can tell the friend that you did it, and for no other reason. That would be over the top. However, competition brings out the best in some people, makes them extend themselves, and become better at many things. Golf, tennis, poker... you name it. Good luck.
