  1. Well it all depends on the boots and the type of skater that you are, but you can try to soften them up a bit by putting a bottle of boiling water in them for a while to warm the leather up (obviously i don't mean for you to pour the water into the boot i mean keep the water in the bottle) then put them on and walk around in them while your at home. If your ankle bones are really sore try making donut paddings, buy some cosmetic sponges from your local drug store/pharmacy but make sure they are round then cut a circle inside them and place them over your ankle bones, if that doesn't help then perhaps you need to get the ankles popped out (your rink manager or who ever deals with the skates should know what i mean). If it's just because they hurt well everyone has that (i have scars from previous skates), if your feet blister then get some methylated spirits and dab that on to them with a cotton bud it will really hurt if they have burst but it will toughen up your skin.

  2. well u could get those jelly ankle and foot protectors i kno they r a little pricey but ur feet will definitely thank u

good luck breaking in ur new skates!!!: )

  3. It depends on how good you are. However, whether you are good or bad, cooking/baking your skates really helps. I know it sounds really wierd, but ask a coach or another skater how to do it!

    Good Luck With New Skates!

  4. Put on hard skate guards and walk up and down stairs with them on and it will break them in.

  5. it is not recomended to wear skates around the house, because you might break them incorrectly.....Depends on the brand and type of skates, you can put them in the oven for 4min and then hot on your feet, as the cool down they will mold to your feet.

Some figure skates are harder than the other, so no matter what you do it will take some time and pain to break them in.

There are some tips of how to break you skates without too much pain (p.s. works for me):

    1. Fasten you skates loosly (don't fasen then all away to the top)

    2. When you first got you skates put them on and just skate around (forward crossovers, backward crossovers, curves)

    3. When you skates start feeling better start by doing 3 turns and other turns....

    4. spins

    5. last thing should be jumps (singles)

Break your skates slowly don't try to do it too fast - it is in your own benefit and in the benefit of your skates....

    good luck!

  6. Get heat moldable boots.  They're so much more comfortable.  You probably won't get bloody feet if you get heat moldable boots.

  7. Wear it around the house. Put your skate guard on!

  8. 1) you could wear them around your house (with blade covers of course)

    2) use bunga pads or wrap your feet

    3) don't lace through the top hole (the one closest to the hooks) for a few weeks

  9. Put them on with blade guards of course. and squat, the squatting will losen the leather... Also warming them with a hairdryer as the soft air will make them more flexible. then after a week of doing that, you can take them to the ice rink and just skate around normally and do a few spins. Keep wearing them and squatting, bend your legs, Also walk around the house in them... 2-3 weeks they will be ready to use. Thats what i did with mine, ive never had a blister yet.
