  1. platies and mollies are basicly the same type of fish even though they are different they are both live bearers and both breed the same way

and what will shock most people is them along with swords are also all brackish water fish

I still think you should do your own reasearch as a lot of the anwsers you may get will lead you to having fish die

  2. I think its fine to have them together. I breed platies and guppies together.

Here's what I like to do with platies:

When the female looks as if she is ready to give birth I like to put her in a plastic trap that has a slot that the babies drop down into to keep from being eaten by the Mom. Once all the babies have been born I take the Mom out and let her back into the tank.

Then I leave the babies in the plastic trap for about 1-2 weeks and make sure I break their food into small pieces. (flakes)

Then I transfer them to a larger net trap in the same tank so that they can grow up in there until they are large enough to be let out with all of the adult fish..which usually takes a couple of months.

  3. if you're breeding mollies, you pretty much know how to breed platies.   They can be in the same tank.

  4. Breeding platies are very easy like guppies and mollies. The way u r breeding ur mollies in the same way breed ur platies it is very easy. But to speed up the breeding process of the platies buy more females and less males, if u still have platies in ur tank u can buy more if u want to, to speed up thier breeding process. For example u can buy 2 females for every 1 male with a ratio 2:1. And i am really sure ur platies will definately breed.

Just leave the platies by themselves with males and females in a week or so u will notice that one or two of ur female platy is pregnant by having a gravid spot. U can also keep mollies and platies togeather there is no harm they will breed themselves.

PS: Platies can breed by themselves even if u dont want to, and they can give lots of frys. I have a tip for u.. u can however buy a pregnant female platy from the petstore to ensure that u recieve thier fry and it will also encourage other platies to breed. If ur males start to chase the females or disturbs them then u can make sure that ur platy is definately breeding. FOr more information search the internet for platy breeding.
