How do you bring down the swelling in fire ant bites?

i was bitten 3 times today on my hands, and i was wondering if there are any home remedies for bringing down the swelling

any cream with benadryl in it.

Boy, they sure are vicious little buggars, aren't they?!?  The bites are miserable, about the only way to get the swelling down is to ice the area.  My son stepped in a fire ant hill - barefoot - when he was little, his foot swelled up to about 3 times the normal size.  The Benedryl will help with the itching, but it's best to take it orally.
