How do you build a tree house but not on a tree. I know im not using the right word but i want to build a little house not as small as a doll house,, bigger like a tree house but i don't want it on a tree just on the ground. Can you give me some specific instructions on how to start one? Such as what are the best materials to build the roof, walls, ground. By the way i want to put stairs in it to lead to a balcony. I know complicated but i want to build one. Thanks

  1. Just replace the tree with at least 4 -6x6 post  buried and cemented in for stability.

All of the below are free designs

I hope I understand your question...you want a tree house but you don't want the tree you want it on posts buried in the ground.

  2. i would stick to treated lumber for any thing that is exposed to the weather and go by the rules for building houses the fraining in the walls is 2x4 or 2x6 spaced 16inches apart if you are going for 2 stories i would sugest buying a book fron the hardware store ( LOWS & HOME DEPOT will have a nice selection) about play houses  or sheds.  if you live any place that gets substanchle snow i would reckamend i roof with a pitch of atleast 4/12 or more to help shed snow (4/12 stands for 4inches of rise to every 12 inches of run 12/12 is a 45degree angle) windows& doors get headers a header is a dubbled up piece of the framing nailed togather like a sandhitch to give extra suport above the opening ) i would look at the span on the roof and get a local pro to help decide on what thickness of rafter or type of truss is suitable for your needs GOOD LUCK

  3. I think you are talking about a play house. Go to the Home Depot or Lowes web sites. They should have building plans for that type of thing.
