How do you build patio steps on top of a concrete patio?

I know how to make concrete steps for a patio but how do I attach the new steps ontop of the already existing concreate patio? Thanks.

  1. Drill some holes into the patio and put short lengths of re-bar into them.  Then build your concrete forms around them.  When you pour the new steps they will be anchored to the patio.

Hi..........Just bore some holes with a roto-hammer....stub some steel up........paint the surface with a bonding agent.......if that doesn't do it for you rough it up with acid.....once it's prepped build you forms and pour. Also if you like wood just divide your total rise into the same unit sizes and built some wood boxes and stack them........different size boxes.........that's kind of neat also.....have fun........those are fun projects.......nite

  3. better to use a precast. What part of the country are you in? In the southwest you have to jackhammer the existing walk and set your forms, in winter. or just quickly if you are doing it now.  I would add 1000 dollars to your bid if you live anywhere the temp reaches 114 F and guarntee it :)
